The button disappeared for me last week- I have no idea why and I cannot get it back. Help!

Lots more info needed. Which button? Which version of BOB are you using? Which browswer? Which operating system?

Common quick fixes for many script problems: clear your cache; uninstall and reinstall the script; if using Firefox, try the Reset Firefox button on the page you get to via the Firefox Help->Troubleshooting menu item.

If this is about BoB, I've found recently that sometimes the button is above the map image and sometimes below. Maybe it's just hiding from you?
